Sooooo Busy!
Lorraine has been an excellent researcher since we got here and dug up all sorts of great things for us to do. It is a relatively short summer, May 30th (Memorial Day) to September 5th (Labor Day), at least for Americans officially, although for us, the temperatures probably mean it will feel like summer from March when we arrived through until about the end of October.
So a lot of the events we want to do are crammed into a fairly short time frame, and when you combine them with golf, the schedule becomes almost impossible.
Last week it was
Monday - gym (yes Charlie I am still fat, but still trying!)
Tuesday - Leadership dinner (undid anything I managed on Monday)
Wednesday - Sinatra Tribute at the Cuneo Museum & Gardens (Great music, fantastic setting)
Thursday - Cubs Game, on the rooftops at Wrigleyville
Friday - Lindenfest, a local town festival (I had to cry off, I was knackered!) Lorraine went to see The Wizard Of Oz on the lawn at Ravinia
Saturday - Golf at Steeple Chase, a gorgeous course, I shot a 97! and had a lot of fun playing with the satnav on the carts.
Sunday - Walker Cup Golf. This is the amateur equivalent of the Ryder Cup. We haven't got a great record in this tournament, but had one it the last three times out, to make seven wins from 39! Read here, if you want to know more.
This week is no better
Monday - Lorraine's golf lesson
Tuesday - Gym (still trying)
Wednesday - Aretha Franklin on the lawn at Ravinia
Thursday - Open air movie in Buffalo Grove - Shrek 2 (we've seen it, but the outing should be fun)
Friday - Tony Bennett on the lawn at Ravinia
Saturday - My golf outing with work and friends
Sunday - Chicago Air & Water Show
The following week(s)start to slow down a little, although I have 3 charity golf outings to go to between then and the end of September, and Lorraine is going home for about 3 weeks, so obviously I won't be going to the gym during that time :-)
